# Recent advances in empirical applications of active inference in computational psychiatry Presenter: Ryan Smith Contribution: Livestreamed panel or group session Public ID: talk-6b718c5ddd797287 ## Submitted abstract In this talk, I will review recent studies and results using active inference and related modeling approaches to study mechanisms of normative cognitive-affective processes and associated neural responses, and how these appear to be affected in different psychiatric conditions. I will also discuss contexts in which active inference appears to offer potentially unique resources for modeling these processes. Conversely, I will discuss contexts in which active inference may overlap with simpler modeling approaches and related issues centered around the level of mechanistic description one is interested in studying.
